About Battlefield 4:

Battlefield 4 leaps ahead of the competition with the power of Frostbite 2, the next installment of DICE's cutting-edge game engine. This state-of-the-art technology is the foundation on which Battlefield 3 is built, delivering superior visual quality, a grand sense of scale, massive destruction, dynamic audio and incredibly lifelike character animations. As bullets whiz by, walls crumble, and explosions throw you to the ground, the battlefield feels more alive and interactive than ever before. In Battlefield 3, players step into the role of the elite U.S. Marines where they will experience heart-pounding single player missions and competitive multi-player actions ranging across diverse locations from around the globe including Europe, Middle-East and North America. Games sold in the US will not work on systems sold in different geographic locations due to regional coding requirements.

Battlefield 3: Armored Kill Brings All-Out Vehicle Warfare

Back when EA announced Battlefield Premium at E3 this year, I wasn’t sold. It wasn’t that I didn’t think it was a good idea, because it is, but the content didn’t seem there. They showed Battlefield 3: Close Quarters, which we had already seen back at GDC, and everything else was still classified. It didn’t make much sense, and I left less interested than ever. That feeling has stuck with me until this week, when we got our first full look at gameplay of the next Battlefield 3 DLC release Armored Kill. It's pretty clear that Battlefield Premium was a reaction to the wild success of Call of Duty: Elite, but it also shouldn’t have taken 8 months after release for EA to show us something new. Sure, they released Back to Karkand, but that pack was available well before Battlefield Premium was even announced. That isn’t very persuasive to the dedicated Battlefield fans (the ones Premium is designed for) who had already purchased that DLC pack; in a way, they were punished for being early supporters.

Battlefield 3 Battlelog Update – the Live Scoreboard

The days are gone joining a server at its last five tickets or last five seconds! In the coming weeks, the Battlelog will be receiving an interesting update called the Live Scoreboard.

The Live Scoreboard is exactly what it sounds like, a scoreboard that can be viewed live – at the same time as a match is being played. This means that PC players, before entering into a server, will now be able to view the progress of the match in real-time while on the Battlelog. It will detail how many tickets or kills are left before the end of the match or round, which team is winning, as well as how many points, kills and deaths each player has.

Check out some of the images below:

If you’re not yet seeing the update on your Battlelog yet, Elton Muuga, Web Software Engineer at DICE tells users not to worry: “We are rolling it out to more users every day to gather performance data and community feedback before releasing it for everyone.”

Battlefield 3 Xbox 360 Patch notes

GENERAL GAMEPLAY FIXES
  • Players should no longer take fall damage from short falls.
  • Players now get up from Prone slightly faster, allowing better odds of getting away from a grenade or threat when prone.
  • Fixed some situations that would unintentionally make a player unrevivable.
  • Reduced the black screen fade in time on spawn. The fade is still necessary for properly streaming in loading content at spawn, but it has been substantially reduced.
  • Increased the spawn protection time from 1sec to 2sec. The protection will still be immediately canceled as soon as the player moves or shoots.
  • Spawn protection will no longer be canceled by the player looking around.
  • Increased the speed at which a player regains accuracy when aiming after moving for a more responsive experience. Firing before fully zoomed will still result inaccurate fire.
  • Increased the inaccuracy and recoil added when a player is fully suppressed.
  • Shotgun Buck and Flechette rounds now have a less suppressive effect at medium to long range.
  • Tweaked the damage levels of Buck and Flechette rounds to balance them with other weapons.
  • Improved the suppression of the .44 magnum, .357 magnum, and the 5.8x42mm DAP88 rounds from the Type88 sniper.
  • Attempting to Crouch (like Prone) will now properly interrupt Sprint.
  • Increased the effectiveness of Suppression Resist Specialization.
  • Parachutes now respond to turn and throttle inputs more quickly.
  • Switching from primary weapons to sidearms and back now takes less time.
  • Increased the effectiveness of explosive resistance.
  • Tweaked bipod deploy settings so players can no longer deploy a bipod in places higher than chin level.
  • The bipod should now be more reliable when deploying on top of sloped objects like cars and rocks.
  • Fixed several issues with vaulting objects, especially for thin railings.
  • The Knife now only takes two swipes to kill when attacking from a position where a takedown is not possible.
  • CRAM weapons on Carriers now count towards stationary weapon awards.

Xbox 360 Battlefield 3 patch now up

bf3, patch, xbox 360

DICE has released latest Battlefield 3 patch for Xbox 360 bringing a slew of fixes and tweaks. Also, there will be a server side fix for both Xbox 360 and PS3 to iron out problems with heat seekers and TV-missles.

Update: Gustav Halling has asked via Twitter, “PS3 and Xbox players, is there any improvement with heatseekers on any servers? It can take time before they are running the new software.” This indicates that the server side fixes for consoles mentioned below have begun rolling out.

Soon as you fire up Battlefield 3 on Xbox 360, you will be greeted to a 172MB mandatory update. This patch seems to lay down the ground work for the major patch that you will be prompted to download at the main menu in form of a free Xbox LIVE Marketplace transaction. The patch, which is named “Rent a Server Update” will set you back 1.02GB in memory (excluding the 172MB prior).

The server rentals pricing in Microsoft points:

1 day 120 MSP ($1.49)
7 days 560 MSP ($6.99)
30 days 2000 MSP ($24.99)
90 days 4800 MSP ($59.99)

Along with today’s patch for Xbox 360, all three platform (PC, PS3, and Xbox 360) will be getting a server side fix for a couple of issues (only on consoles). The official Battlefield twitter account stated that the server update to take place between 8 am UTC (4 am EST/1 am PST) and 4 pm UTC (12pm EST/4am PST). During this time, “you may be kicked from your game, but should be able to rejoin.” Gustav Halling explained, “we are rolling out a server-fix for Heat seekers and TV-missiles bugs today.” He went on to explain how TV-missiles are being tweaked, “we are nerfing it down, it was not intentional to 1-hit kill all 100% healthy vehicles in the game.” However, he noted, “Small notice. The server side fixes today is consoles only. PC will follow shortly since they have their own update days.”

Battlefield 3: Upcoming Patch Details Mortars “Fixed”, M-COM Ribbons Tweaked and More

bf3, patch, update

Battlefield 3 players on the PS3 had patched released yesterday February 6th, which addressed the VoIP problems. But what else will the upcoming patches include for other platforms? On top of the recent announcement of the USAS-12 shotgun fix, other patch details have begun to surface.

Mortars in have always been a controversial feature in Battlefield 3. Fans have been pleading that players should be unable set up mortars while in their own spawn where they could quite easily be unreachable. DICE has recently stated that it “will be fixed in next patch.”

Also awaiting some much needed tweaking are the M-COM ribbons, or more specifically, the M-COM Defender ribbon. Currently, achieving this ribbon can be an extremely difficult task given the unlikelihood of earning defender points in the Rush game mode. Luckily, Senior Designer, Fredrik Thylander, recently stated that “m-com defender and m-com attacker are easier to get in the next patch.”

Though the PS3 will be receiving an update tomorrow, DICE has not yet officially announced a date for the other platforms. There may still be a chance that other platforms will see a patch tomorrow as well, but DICE has been known to announce a date ahead of time in the past.

Lastly, It has come to our attention that some players on the Battlelog are reporting to have downloaded a 7GB patch for Battlefield 3 recently. DICE has officially commented on the matter: “We have not received official word of a patch so be cautious.”

Battlefield 3: Spectator Mode Announcement? USAS-12 With Frag Rounds Update

bf3, update, patch

DICE Gameplay Designer and Community Manager update Battlefield 3 fans on the situation regarding the infamous USAS-12 shotgun equipped with fragmentation rounds and teases the possibility of a spectator mode.

Community Manager, Daniel Matros, recently spoke of ClanBase’s Nations Cup which is beginning today. What he had to say, however, brought some attention to a possible upcoming Battlefield 3 announcement. Interestingly, he stated, “Nations Cup is exciting. It would even be more exciting with Spectator mode.” Of course, got many fans rather excited. Matros later followed up saying, “calm down now. It’s been a wish and an ambition of mine since way back to have spectator mode in our future games.” To be clear, he mentioned that there has been “nothing confirmed or said yet.” Nevertheless, let’s keep our fingers crossed and hope that a “Battlerecorder” will be making its way to Battlefield 3 soon. After all, Matros did mention earlier today, “new stuff happening. Good day today. Fans well be in for a treat later on.” Keep an eye on MP1st for any announcements!

On the subject of the ever popular USAS-12 shotgun equipped with fragmentation rounds, which Matros was recently asked about, he stated that DICE is “checking out how to balance it.” Hopefully this is something that will be making it into the next patch, Many Battefield 3 players’ main gripe with this combination of a fully automatic shotgun with explosive ammunition is how effective it is at range. However, Senior Gameplay Designer, Alan Kertz, mentioned that “shotgun buck is effective IRL out to 30m or more with good chokes. Slugs 100m or more,” to keep things in perspective.

The team over at DICE have received complaints that the Xbox 360 servers for the game Battlefield 3 seem to be under some stress which caused the servers to become unresponsive.
However, DICE stated on Twitter that a fix should be on the way soon:
@waynecuttss We are working on fixing server issues. You will be able to get individual help from a game adviser at help.ea.com ^SN
No eta of when the servers will be back up but expect it no later than today.
